todays update: modeprobe FATAL ERROR

Hello

so angry i am!
just the last 3 -4  weeks, Ubuntu never again showed up the modeprobe  
FATAL ERROR (2x) while starting the system. this started to work after  
usual updates from Ubuntu sources.
just today i did again usual updates from Ubuntu and NOW AGAIN this shows  
up.
this looks so silly to me. sorry, developers.

what to suggest, friends?
