I'm trying to install Ubuntu under vmware (VMWare is running on a Debian host.)

After finishing stage 1, I get Error 18 from grub. It just says Error
18, nothing else.

I'm thinking that perhaps there is a useful option under the F7 menu
on the boot CD...the problem is for some reason my F7 key no longer
works.

So is there a rescue type option in Ubuntu or some other way of
continuing to stage 2 of the install without grub working?
