Supported chipsets in Ubuntu include orinoco, PRISM, Atheros and Atmel,
among others.

That page only has information which has been provided by the community so
far; there are many cards which work out of the box.

If everyone reading this message would add their experiences to that page,
it would be a good resource indeed.  All you need to do is click on
UserPreferences to create an account, and then you can edit pages in the
wiki.
