Just a quick update.

I applied the patch, built and ran the new kernel and it all worked
great, except for one thing.  It seems to have killed framebuffer mode.
I was appending vga=0x318 to my boot line, but now I just get a blank
screen during boot.  However, I'm not sure if this is a problem with the
patch or if I messed up building the new kernel somehow.
