Hi,
Last week I reinstalled by work desktop which had been running the pre-
preview of Warty with the official Preview ISO.
d-i went perfectly as expected.
However, when apt did the first (huge) install run, this appeared on the
console:
fine /proc/acpi/battery: file not found
It looked like a preinst script as it happened before the unpacking.
LVM/md/etc were installed and start on boot, although I didn't create
any LVM partitions. I understand this is part of the "common base"
policy, and I understand these will start only if they detect they are
needed. Right?
Similarly, pcmcia was installed and started on my desktop. I believe I
heard yesterday that pcmcia is only being installed if required by d-i
in the future, am I correct?
A very minor point -- the package "openoffice.org-mimelnk" was installed
but this is only required by KDE as far as I know. I've removed it and
I can double-click on OO.o documents at least.
It would be cool if d-i detected what processor I was running and
installed the relevant kernel. I presume this is down to disk space on
the CD-ROM.
When I shutdown, it hangs on "Deconfiguring network interfaces".
Interestingly Sounder didn't do this, and I've no idea how I'll debug
it. I've tried umounting /home (NFS) before shutting down but that
didn't help.
I'm still seeing the "sticky super key" issue in X/GNOME. pc105
keyboard, using the Windows/Super key as a modifier in Metacity, when I
Super-arrow to switch workspaces, releasing Super doesn't cause the
popup to go. There are many bugs for this is various bug systems but
Metacity and X still disagree over the keyboard handling.
Finally, when I mount my /home I get warned that the mount versions are
different. I believe this is a very minor warning, but it causes the
"mounting remote filesystems" init message to report a failure.
Apart from that, ROCK ON.
