Hi Gideon,
	thanks a lot for your report. We know that there is a bug in the
current release of the X packages. Please try 2 things, first follow the
instruction that someone posted for you to grab the updated nvidia driver
(that should fix part of the problem).

After you have done that run:

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

This will lead you trough a number of questions that will help you to set
appropriate values for your video card and monitor (plus other stuff).
