Hi,

Yesterday I installed Ubuntu on my bondi blue iMac. Having looked here I
was prepared. Some issues I had and saw here and some solutions I had:

- Networking wasn't detected.
Solution: during install, go to terminal and modprobe bmac
(I knew which module I had to use from the previous installation)

- Sound. A recurring problem with Gnome (I also had this on 2.2) is that
sound ends up in the internal speakers, not the nice ones that are
connected through the line out. If it isn't autodetected, you need to
  modprobe dmasound_pmac
(my speakers were off so I don't know whether it worked out of the
  box)

- X was configured for 1024x768x24bpp while my poor old mac can't
handle that. I had to manually edit XF86Config-4 to set it to 16bpp.
  Oddly, only 640x480 worked.

- Gnome didn't really upgrade nicely from the 2.2 files that were still
there to 2.8. I had to remove the .gnome* and .gconf* directories to
  get the applications menu etc.

And now for the major problem: I can't sync my Palm m130, with the
default udev.rules. Gnome-pilot just sits and waits, my palm times out
after a while. Any idea what I'm missing?
