When you talk of the desktop market I worry that you will dumb it down 
too much, by configuration or my omitting important software.

Valuable software I've already missed is sshd; I can't connect to MUT 
over the lan to lift stuff to post to the list or to do administrative 
tasks on it.

a GUI is a fine thing, and I think that all aspects of a computers use 
should be administratable with a set of good GUIs, but I don't expect 
that will actually happen.

Even if it does, it's hard to beat using ssh to connect to remote boxes, 
desktops or not, to apply the latest software updates.
