KDE - supported?

Hello everyone,

I've read that there will be some information concerning Ubuntu and KDE coming
soon. Will this mean that it will actually come with it on the CD?

As far as I can tell it seems that KDE would be installable via apt without
changing something in the sources.list - ok for advanced users, but as most
who'd be given this CD by me are coming freshly from Windows it wouldn't be
very obvious to those how to get a more friendly yet powerfull DE - GNOME
wouldn't appeal to most of them.

How are the plans for the future? Will there be a user's choice on what DE to
use. Or will Ubuntu be GNOME centric when released?

That's ok I guess as there seems to be quite some request for such a clean
Debian distribution focusing solely on GNOME - I'd just like to know since
many aspects of Ubuntu seem "just right". And I'd like to see if it might
become an option for me.

Thanks :)
