Ok, it looks like Ubuntu works with 2D graphics
somewhat. I am noticing something wierd, where if I
have an app like Firefox open and drag another window
around the screen, it leaves copies of the window all
over the place. I don't have that happen with Knoppix
3.6, I don't know if it is a Ubuntu issue or a Gnome
issue.
Also could someone tell me how to get 3D graphics and
the hardware MPEG-2 decoder (along with any other via
drivers) working? Do I have to patch and recompile
the kernel? Will the instructions from Gentoo work?
http://www.epiawiki.org Is this what I need to do? Is
there anyway to use via binary dirves with out
recompiling anything?
If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. I am
somewhat of a newbie to linux (former Mandrake user,
but I've never configured and compiled a kernel
before.)
Thanks,
Dan
