Synaptic is hanging

Hi,
This is my second mail in about three minutes - kinda feels like I'm
spamming...

Anyway, I just installed Ubuntu and now I want my favorite browser
Epiphany installed. So I fire up Synaptic and mark Epiphany for
installation. Synaptic then starts to download the needed files but
hangs after a while. End result is that nothing gets installed.
Don't really know what else to tell you guys...
