Nvidia Driver -- Problems

Did you edit your configuration manually? If so dpkg-reconfigure will have
no effect to preserve your local modification.

Which md5sum thing? If you want dpkg-reconfigure to handle your config
again you need to do:
md5sum /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 > /var/lib/xfree86XF86Config-4.md5sum
and then run again dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
Also, if X doesn't start please attach at least /var/log/XFree86.0.log
and your configuration file.
