No sound, First install, VIA VT8233 motherboard

Just wanted to chime in here that I'm having the same problem - albeit 
with a different motherboard/sound card combo. The system beep works 
fine, I just can't get any other sounds. Attempts to "sudo modprobe -r 
parport_pc" fail also. Thanks.
