Locking packages in Synaptics broken?

This feature should work. Did you do the "upgrade" from within
synaptic or with apt-get? Synaptic does not export the "hold"
information (also it's technically easy) as this caused confusion for
some users. If synaptic does not honor the "hold" inside synaptic and
upgrades anyway, please file a bug against synaptic, I'll then ask for
more information.
