What's the error message?

I think I had something similar - with a 5gig root partition, halfway
through installing software (the base system I think) I got an "out of
space" message. Rather misleading, given the size of the partition.

The problem was actually setting the boot partition - a space had been
left free when I resized my OS X partition for this, but - as I recall
- there was another partition perhaps created by the install disc that
I had erroneously used.

The important thing to note (thanks to people in #ubuntu) is that the
boot partition has to be within the first 8 mb of the mac hard drive.

http://www.ubuntulinux.org/support/documentation/howto/installation-
powerpc
doesn't say anything about this.

When I have time, I'll write a "dual boot with OS X" guide - I need to
run through the install again and do some checking.

John
