KVM issue

I use a OmniView™ SOHO Series 4-Port USB KVM Switch with Audio (Belkin
part #F1DS104U) and it works just fine. I'm guessing you are using a
PS2 switch. My keyboard and mouse use USB, so hotplug actually
loads/unloads the devices when I switch. When I switch to a windows or
mac machine the keyboard and mouse are ready almost right away, my
ubuntu machine takes a couple seconds, but it's not a big deal.
I've seen PS2 KVMs go nutty with the mouse before. A few things you
could try on the Linux machine is using gpm instead of the actual
mouse device under X. There might be some trick you could work out
with /dev/input/mice....but I don't know of any.
