My system slows to a crawl and then stop.

hello!

 I have posted on amd64 section and haven't got any answer, but as I
have seen somewhat similar behaviours from other list members I am
trying here...

Amd 64 warty release version (installed it two times already)
ABIT KV8 pro
512 Mb ram
GEforce 4400 

Installled with no problems whatsoever, great fun, simple basic,
pretty straightforward! congratulations...
2nd stage went smooth...

When I login, I type my username, Password and then the screen turns
grey, everything slows... one minute later I have the entering sound,
and two minutes later the splash screen with no icons and then...
nothing.. it just stays that way.

I have tried killing Bonnomo-activation PID, and then I get an
"unspecified error caused by a children process that has repeated to
many times".... Even if my wife is pregnant it is only with 2
months... :) so it can't be it!and then, one minute later,
bonnomo-activation is up again as a Process

what am i doing wrong? what must I Type in command mode to disable
this bonomo thing at startup? or is it other thing?
another strange thing is that 

sudo "command" 

does nothing. Just works like a "return" when I press enter, giving me
a second line to write down... no excit no ctrl+c nothing works...
only alt+ctrl+ F2 and ps, and kill the pid that was generated with
sudo command...
