Let's not let these ideas propagate: Ubuntu is definitely not a "desktop
distro" (we fully support a wide array of popular FOSS server apps, and
run all our servers on Ubuntu), nor is PHP 4.x unsupported.
$ apt-cache show libapache2-mod-php4 | grep ^Filename
Filename: pool/main/p/php4/libapache2-mod-php4_4.3.8-3ubuntu7_i386.deb
The 'php4' package applies to apache 1.x, not 2.x. libapache2-mod-php4
is the version of php that is fully supported in Ubuntu, for Apache 2.x.
