system hang on screen saver

I am running an Asus P4C800C motherboard with ati Radeon 9700 video card
OS is ubuntu with 2.6.8.1-3-686-smp kernel and fglrx video driver.
I have dual head set-up so a separate screen saver comes up for each
screen.  The system is regularly freezing on the screen saver.  The only
way to recover is to do a hard reboot.

Let me know which log files might help diagnose the problem and I will
send them.
