Can I install Warty in existing partitions and avoid 1566?

I think this would be a good subject for a HOWTO/FAQ. I in fact
suggested in the HOWTO forum having a "migration to Ubuntu Howto"
available but it received no replies.

The Debian manual referred to below looks very authoritative but it's
also somewhat too scary for the new and beginning users that Ubuntu
would be ideal for, and who might migrating to Ubuntu from Windows or
Mandrake etc.

Surely there must be some user-friendly system configuration (incl.
migration) tools available under GPL that could be tailored for Ubuntu.
I would actually tailor the Ubuntu liveCD to become as much a
maintenance, rescue and migration tool as it is for checking out the
environment. Cooperating with other distros to improve such tools would
also make immensely more sense than building "yet another setup tool"
from ground up. The current Gnome frontends are a start but don't cover
nearly enough ground.

The liveCD ought to also have a "setup guides and documents" folder on
the desktop which contains latest versions of all FAQs, HOWTOs and
more. Browsers, newsreaders and IRC clients should all come preset with
links to Ubuntu resources first, and to other useful resources second.

If the liveCD continues to gets built in parallel with the main
installable version and it carries all these useful tools, it would
also be simple to maintain an up-to-date repository of these selected
user-friendly tools for downloading by the mainstream users, with
preset configuration in Synaptic.

Sorry for the rambling deviation. :^)
