keyboard problem

Check these keyboard settings in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file:

Option "XkbRules"   "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel"   "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout"  "us_intl"

Or, if you don't want to edit manually, change your keyboard
properties in Gnome to use a keyboard layout with dead keys, next time
you log in back in Gnome it will ask you which keyboard layout to use.
