Keyboard shortcut: ALT<Print> does not seem to work

Hi,

I may be being a complete idiot, here but my understanding of the take a 
  Screenshot shortcut key 'Print' should does as directed, does this do 
ex actually the same as Computer | Take a screenshot?

I cannot seem to get it to work, I'm running a UK keyboard layout, and 
I'm using 'ALT' | 'Print Scrn' key, as this is what I assume the Print 
key is meant to be.

I know I could remap the keys, but this is what IMHO most people take 
the Print key to mean and remapping it, is defeating the object of the 
default GNOME settings.
