Fresh install from 4.10 cd
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
reboot
all is well
Add universe to sources.list
apt-get update
apt-get install enigma
Install of enigma never completes. A stream of errors scrolls by but it looks to be a library inconsistency problem.
Trying to login on a different virtual terminal also fails. Again seems to be a library inconsistency problem.
I have not had a chance to boot the CD and perform any further analysis.
Is there a recovery procedure I can try short of reinstall?
I understand packages in universe are not supported. But they should not break the system so completely like in this case. Are there any checks that forbid a package from universe from overwriting a file from a package in main?
