It's really not an attempt to fragment the community, but to lead more
people to it. Generally, the idea will be to direct people who use
Ubuntu and have LiveJournal accounts and that haven't heard about the
mailing lists and unofficial forums (I had difficulty with using them in
the beginning myself) to gain easier access to the community. To be
honest, it's more of a gateway for one potential group of users to gain
access to the general knowledge base.
That was generally my idea behind starting it.
