Mark, Canonical - some requests...

Now, I know we've flogged the subject of the "Human" theme to death and
you will all groan "Oh no, not another thread" but this is the best way
I could think of putting to Mark and Canonical a couple of aspects I
haven't seen raised elsewhere. Forgive me if they have been raised and I
missed them.
First - it is of course your distro and your decision to make (as Mark
stated) but please remember that the developers and we as testers/bug
reporters have put a lot of effort into Ubuntu - in a way we have been
putting our faith in you. You don't owe us anything - we decided to get
involved, and this is free software - but I think some of us will feel
let down if Ubuntu fails to fulfill it's potential because of this
issue. I'm hoping it will be the distro I can promote as a real
alternative for the many day to day PC users, but like many I will be
unable to with this theme.
Secondly, I would love to know what the thinking behind choosing to go
with this theme was - not what it represents, but why a potentially
controversial theme was chosen. It's hard to believe that you didn't see
this coming - what I've seen of Ubuntu and Canonical so far suggests
that you're a pretty smart bunch, and these reactions were pretty
predictable. I guess we won't get an answer to this until after the
decision has been announced - it would probably colour the discussion of
the theme itself too much - but I hope you will tell us eventually why
you did this whichever way you decide to go in the end.
Mark, Canonical - over to you...
