Yes, the dmesg stuff would be useful.

via82cxxx is an IDE driver; that's unrelated.

So snd-via82xx is not loaded?  Does your sound device work if it is loaded?

It's starting to sound suspiciously like you might be encountering an IRQ
problem, such as the one described in
