Installation Problems: powerpc, Release Candidate, B&W G3

I just downloaded the latest RC ISO for PowerPC, and I continue to have
problems installing on my B&W G3. After the machine reboots after the CD
installation is complete, I get the following error messages:

audit(1097856659.239.0): initialized
Starting Ubuntu...
pivot_root: No such file or directory
/sbin/init: 429: cannot open dev/console: No such file
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init

At this point, nothing further works, and I'm forced to reboot. I thought
this may have been a known error in the kernel, but I thought I remembered
seeing that that problem had been resolved, so I was wondering if this is
perhaps something different.
