it seems the most vocal in this discussion are those who are against the 
use of these images of unity and humanity.  I like them but because they 
don't provoke a strong reaction haven't really spoken up before.  I 
think this is probably the way most people who have no strong 
perferences have responded this way.

I know it goes against the way the installer works but would it be 
possible to ask a question as part of the install that chooses either 
plain logos (and offending no one unless any on can think of a culture 
that finds geometric shapes offensive.) or versions showing the concept 
of ubuntu using human figures.

It would be a real shame to have to ruin the installer this way but it's 
a real shame to totally lose the ubuntu images that some people find 
offensive when they are so dam good.
