Well.. initially sound just did not work until I loaded i810_audio,
finding and unblacklisting is the fiddling I was referring to.

It seems that the snd_intel8x0 does not provide the OSS support needed
for gstreamer, it just didn't work.

A more reasonable alternative, since it will automagically select the
appropiate sink.

Well... on my dell latitude d600 laptop this thus did not work, on my
desktop it seems to work as you say... *makes a mental note of this*
