I think I found the problem. Everytime you change the preferences on
PPC the main package list is empty afterwards. It only happens on
PPC. Can you please install:
http://people.debian.org/~mvo/synaptic/warty/synaptic_0.53.4-1ubuntu5_powerpc.deb
and see if it fixes your problem? You may have to go to the
"Settings/Preferences/Columns and Fonts" settings and reeanble the
columns.
