More locale mysteries

I have four locales configured: en_US, en_US.UTF-8, ja_JP.UTF-8 and
sv_SE.UTF-8. I have sv_SE.UTF-8 as the default.
I run mozilla and it all looks fine.
I run firefox - and the language and rendering is Japanese... Starting
from a terminal, it says "autoselected locale: en_US".
Together with the syslog daemon dumping every message onto every
terminal (with a bell every time!), I am just about ready to give this
up altogether for now. I can frankly not keep up trying to fix this with
my coworkers getting annoyed by the constant beeping.
I will try again with the full prerelease when I have time.
