There is no need to remove ipv6. The address you see in ifconfig is
called "link local" and it is automatically generated according to your
macaddress. it is completely harmless.
If ipv4 doesn't work the problem is somewhere else, but i don't know
enough anout wireless to be able to help you in a debugging session.
