Compaq Armada 7380 DMT

NIC: Intel Wireless Pro 2011 PCMCIA
96 mb memory
Pentium II 266 Mhz
3.2 GB hard drive
Video: S3 Inc. 86cM65 [Aurora64V+], 2 mb memory

Network:

Ubuntu automatically recognized the wireless card and prompted for WEP
key.

NTP:

I get a "Synchronizing clock to pool.ntp.org [fail]
*ror Temporary failure in name resolution" error during every boot.

I see PCMCIA services start later. Is the computer attempting to update
the time before the wireless network card is working?

The graphical time and date setting application will not let one select
a server
"Please run NTP support in the system to enable synchronization with
internet time servers"

Manually running 'ntpdate pool.ntp.org' from the command line works.

Modem:

The laptop has built-in modem that may or may not be a winmodem. No
modem was found by wvdialconf. I tried winmodem drivers for Lucent to
no avail as there are lucent dsp chips on the internal modem/audio
card. The modem is enabled and configured to Com2 via Compaq's setup
program.

X:

I had to edit /etc/X11/XFree86Config to change the default depth to 16
as the installation set it to 24 which won't work with the amount of
video memory (2mb) and the resolution (1024x768) on this laptop.

Sound:

The sound chip is an ESS 1878. No sound drivers were loaded.
I can get it to work by typing:

 sudo modprobe snd-es18xx
 sudo modprobe snd-mixer-oss
 sudo modprobe snd-pcm-oss

ACPI: I don't believe this is working, I've attached my dmesg output
below.

Overall I give Ubuntu two thumb's up for ease of install and getting
wireless networking going!
