Hi,

I've got a Dell Inspiron 8600, Ubuntu work fine. The only thing I cannot
make work is the internal modem.
It seems to be a SmartLink modem.

lspci -v :

0000:00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) AC'97 Modem Controller
(rev 01) (prog-if 00 [Generic])
Subsystem: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4d64
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 7
        I/O ports at b400
        I/O ports at b080 [size=128]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2

I've installed the sl-modem-daemon package, and the sl-modem-source.

I've compile the kernel module, installed it (it hangs, need to kill
dpkg and do a dpkg --reconfigure -a after, and it installs itself).
It seems to work, all is recognized, but when I try to connect to my
ISP, I've got a "NO DIALTONE" and the ppp connection aborts.

I've removed the sl kernel module, and forced sl-modem-daemon to use
Alsa (snd_intel_8x0m) by specifying the device as "hw:1".
Reboot (to be sure), seems to work (/dev/modem linked to /dev/ttySL0,
linked to /dev/pts/0, as with the sl kernel module).
But, when I try to connect :

Oct 9 10:36:55 localhost kernel: codec_semaphore: semaphore is not
ready [0x1][0x701300]
Oct 9 10:36:55 localhost kernel: codec_write 1: semaphore is not ready
for register 0x54

and chat fail too.

Any idea of what's going wrong ?
