Totem and Ubuntu Sounds

Hi

Had a little problem when I installed the ubuntu sounds package with
totem. I could watch a movie, but when I paused it, the desktop made a
sound, and totem complained about losing control of the sound device,
and restarted the movie :-(

I fixed it by disabling desktop sounds, but that doesn't really fix the
problem. I think it may be a problem with the lack of hardware mixing on
the nforce2 sound controller. Is there a way it could be routed around
for the default install?
