It's on the F2 screen at the CD's initial boot prompt:

  You should have space on your hard disk to create a new disk partition
  of at least 1.8 gigabytes to install a standard Ubuntu desktop system
  or at least 350 megabytes for a minimal custom installation. You'll
  need more disk space to install additional packages, depending on what
  you wish to do with your new Ubuntu system.

The final install size is actually a bit less than that, after installed
.deb files have been removed.
