X trouble with 23" flat panel

I had similar trouble with my Laptop (Packard Bell ipower 5542) The only
resolution I could get going was 640x400. As I do not understand X
configuration very well I eventually "imported" teh xconfig files from
another working installation (Knoppix). Maybe something similar would do the
trick for you ?
