You don't need to reinstall in order to get the fix for #1943. From the gdm
login screen, press control+alt+f1 to get a text console, login with your
usual username and password, and run these two commands:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
enter your password when prompted. When the upgrade is complete, press
control+alt+f7 to return to the gdm login screen, and login as usual. The
problem should be fixed.
