I'm going to need a new mobo soon...

My father's going to be giving me, very shortly, a homebuilt P4 2.8ghz
system with a gig of RAM and a 17" Dell flatscreen - for free. I'll be
putting in an Nvidia video card and an SB Live! from my old PIII
desktop to ensure that I'll have no hardware problems.
However, the reason he's giving it to me is that it doesn't work, and
he's already replaced the processor and RAM - but not the motherboard
which, without having seen these problems in person, I'm pretty sure
is the problem. I'm massively out of the loop on desktop systems,
since I last built one in 2000 or so, and since then my purchasing
research has focused on laptops (like the one I'm on right now).
So what would you Ubuntu folks suggest for a good, preferably cheap,
Linux-friendly, ATX P4 motherboard?
