ATI update

I would like to add my 2 cents to the ati update issue mentioned 
previously.  I too have this problem.  Everything worked fine on my Dell 
Inspiron 8600 laptop with ati 9600 video adaptor.  But after I upgraded 
everything (with universe enabled), I could no longer log in 
graphically.  It would hang at the ubuntu splash screen.  I updated 
again today and the login still hangs, but it doesn't even get to the 
splash screen. 

If you switch to a console and kill the bonobo-activation-server process 
it frees the hang, produces the following error message and allows you 
to log in:

A Gnome error dialog appears, the first line is "There was an error 
starting the GNOME Settings Daemon".

Should I report this as a bug somewhere?
