hoary upgrade woes

After over a week, I have almost recovered from my initial upgrade to
hoary. It took me a lot of trial and error, but I do admit I learned
a lot. I think a lot of the problem is due specifically to the amd64
version. One of the primary reasons I chose Ubuntu was because it
actually had a nice amd64 version, but I fear that the support for the
AMD64 version is lacking, especially in hoary. Anyways, here are
there two problems I have left

After fighting with installing and reinstalling applets, both the
mixer and trash applet finally load together, but I cannot actually
open the trash (neither by a single left click or right-click and
select open). I currently have gnome-applets installed, which
apparently restricts the trashapplet from being installed as well. I
have read about other trash problems, but not of it appearing on the
desktop, being able to drag trash to it and empty it, but not simply
open it.

Everytime I open k3b it insists I install the cdrdao package. At
least for the amd64 version, this doesn't seam to exist. I currently
have k3b-i18n, k3blibs, and a nasty forced-install of kcontrol on my
system

Thanks to anyone who can offer help and insight

Ross
