Games : 'FlightGear' hangs ! :o(

Wow, thanks for the link Fran, it's exactly what I wanted ! A simulation
game that features only helicopters and one plane, instead of MS Flight
Simulator that keeps adding new planes and still has one single heli !

However I have a couple of problems with it :

1) don't think 3D is on... In the "graphics" option dialog, all 3D
features are turned on", but when I start the game, the terrain is
extremebly blocky and the rotors look like giant dishes....

2) no sound : I get an error message saying it could not start the sound
server. A bit strange, as sound/music works perfectly well on my
machine. :o(
It says exactly : " Failed to initialize sound server : unable to
connect to sound server at: 127.0.0.1:9433, use 'starty' command to
start the server".

What the hell is that ? It needs to connect to internet to get the sound
working ? What does that mean ??? I tried typing 'starty' in a terminal,
but the command doesn't exist.
Ran a search for a file of that name, but none exist.

Looks a nice game for me though, so hopefully I can get 3D and sound
working. And with some luck, open source and community aiding, it might
feature a Bell 222 or 230 some day, as that's one of my favorite. 
Will try to find a website or forums devoted to this game, to get help.
