initrd dsdt kernel patch

I need a hacked dsdt to prevent my dell i8500 from over heating and
locking up.  Anybody have a patched kernel?  if not are there any
directions available that tell how to patch the ubuntu kernel and then
compile?  I only say how-tos in the wiki on recompiling the stock
ubuntu kernel.
