Need help getting sound working

Hi there,

Very new to linux here so I could use a bit of help getting my soundcard
working if someone can walk me thru what i need to do.  I've done a bit
of research and found out that my onboard sound uses a ice1724 driver in
alsa (i believe there is also a driver in oss but i guess oss is being
discontinued or something?).

its an albatron k8x800 pro II motherboard (running the 686 kernel from
synaptic in ubuntu)

think anyone can help walk me thru setting this up?
