Unable to install or upgrade packages via Synaptic or apt-get (Hoary)

be aware that hoary is the unstable version, things like this are likely
to happen from time to time ... more (i.e. totally breakage) or less
(like this one) harmfull...

...so if using hoary, make sure to have a backup of your data if you
want to use it as your main system....
