*If you unplug the USB connector on your scanner and plug-it back in*, the hotplug script "/etc/hotplug/usb/libusbscanner" will get triggered and set the user group to *"scanner"* and the priv to *"0666'*. *Then you can use your scanner without "root" priv*.
