firefox and java

OK, just to be clear - that is what I did. It worked. 

Then, without any change on the java or Firefox parts, it stopped
working somewhere around one to two weeks ago. Java itself still works
(can run Java apps). I'm just wondering if that is something someone
else has experienced, which would point to some shared update or
(seemingly) unrelated install.
