This is really sad. So my only two remaining options at this point are:

For ubuntu-users: Is it possible to switch from kernel
2.6.8 to the 2.4 series on Warty?

Yes, this would be really useful for the distribution.
Especially for users which are switching from Windows to Ubuntu, and do
not have the technical knowledge to put hands on the kernel, this would
be an interesting feature.
