Booting Warty on a Beige G3 Tower

I have a friend with a G3 who can install Ubuntu fine but has the same
problem trying to get into the os using BootX. Appearently his Ubuntu
is located at /dev/hda8.

What he would like to know is how to get the necessary kernel and
initrd file off hda8 so he can get the system to boot? What are we
missing??? The linux partition is not accessable from Mac OS (V9.2).
