Thunderbird 0.9 for Ubuntu?

I just downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird from the website and installed 
them to /opt/firefox and /opt/thunderbird and created a symlink to the 
main plugins folder in /opt/firefox/, then just changed the shortcuts in 
the menu. Doesn't seem to be causing any problems yet.
